Project Description:

In 2004, it was announced that Fernbank would receive a remarkable collection of objects from a lost mission site abandoned more than 300 years earlier on St. Catherine’s Island off the coast of Georgia. To commemorate the event and showcase what was coming, it was decided to put together a small “preview” exhibition containing a handful of precious objects from the collection.

My role on this project was Concept Developer and Exhibit/Graphic Designer. Working closely with curatorial and collections staff from both Fernbank and the American Museum of Natural History (the host institution where the collection was originally based), I developed a 20′ linear exhibit featuring 3 display cases and two large wall graphics. In addition to handling the creative aspects, I coordinated the fabrication and installation of exhibit components, artifact mounts and lighting.
